* about us *
Chris Chambers: Bass Guitar & Vocals
Chris has performed and written music nearly all of
his life. Whether singing "Hey Good Looking" to his
grandmother Hallie at the age of two or entertaining
large crowds, one thing has always been true... Chris
loves to perform. Chris grew up singing in churches
and is proud that he is still able to do that with
Appalachia. While focusing primarily on country music
for many years, Chris has come to love and respect
the tight harmonies and upbeat instrumentals that
bluegrass music is known for.  Chris has grown a lot
as a musician over the past 5 years with Appalachia
and is very thankful for such good friends and talented
musicians to play music with.

Tim Southerly: Banjo, Guitar and Vocals
Tim Southerly has been playing music for the last 25
years. Not only is Tim described as one of the best
musicians in the region by his fellow peers, Tim is
also a very knowledgeable and patient teacher of the
trade (Appalachia members have learned a lot from
Tim). Previous to playing with Appalachia, Tim played
for two other well known bluegrass acts (South Branch
Bluegrass and Lonesome Highway). Tim has been an
accomplished songwriter for each of the bands he
has played music with and continues to grow in that
area. He seems to be a natural at whatever instrument
he decides to pick up and is always a crowd favorite
on the banjo or guitar at live performances.
Dave Phillips: Mandolin and Vocals
Dave has been singing in public since he was lead
singer in a local rock band in 9th grade. After
becoming interested in bluegrass music, he joined
Highland Grass (1980-1982) and went on to form
Dan's Run (1982-1984). From 1985-1988, Dave
played the bluegrass festival route with local favorite
Special Delivery. After being diagnosed with oral
cancer for the second time and losing nearly half of
his tongue, he devoted his talents and vocals that
God so graciously preserved, to gospel and
Christian music. Dave says that Appalachia has
provided him with a means of singing gospel, while
returning to his love of bluegrass. His goal is to write
and perform songs that send a positive and moral
message fit for the enire family, and to glorify God at
the same time.
APPALACHIA
Luke Suddath: Guitar and Vocals
Luke Suddath began his music career in 2000 at
the age of 18. Starting with the bass, he has gone
on to learn to play claw hammer banjo, and guitar.
Music from bands such as Lonesome Highway and
Lonesome River Band initially caught Luke's
attention. His teachers include several local
musicians-- his dad Dave, his father-in-law Paul
Roomsburg, and band mate Tim Southerly. One of
his biggest influences however is his brother, Tom.
